Frequently Asked Questions
What is ISOThrive Prebiotic Nectar?
ISOThrive is a zero calorie PREbiotic soluble fiber, a complex carbohydrate designed by nature to feed the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system without adding any calories to your diet. These bacteria make some of the most important nutrients our bodies need to thrive and be healthy.
What are the ingredients in ISOThrive?
Each sachet of ISOThrive Prebiotic Nectar contains 1g of maltosyl-iso-malto-oligosaccharides (MIMO). These are just zero calorie complex carbohydrates. It’s like calling Vitamin C … Ascorbic Acid. The scientific name sounds weird and scary but it’s not actually weird and scary. ISOThrive is the same ingredient found in naturally fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut as well as traditionally fermented sourdough bread.
What is the difference between a prebiotic and a probiotic?
PRObiotics are the beneficial live bacteria that reside in your gut. They are a specialized, healthful subset of the overall bacteria co-habiting our bodies, often referred to as “the microbiome.”
PREbiotics are non-digestible soluble fibers that act as food for healthful bacteria (i.e. food for PRObiotics). We need to feed these beneficial bacteria to maximize health and wellness.

What is the Microbiome?
The human body contains live bacteria that co-exist with us and are necessary to support maximum health. That system of bacteria is referred to as the “human microbiome.” It varies from person to person based on factors such as diet, health history, geographic location, and even ancestry.
Do I need to take ISOThrive EVERY DAY?
Yes. Unlike other supplements or vitamins, which you absorb and use yourself, ISOThrive is food for beneficial bacteria in your colon – and those bacteria reproduce very quickly — in a matter of hours. They need to be fed daily just as you need to eat food daily. If you do happen to miss your daily dose, just take your regular amount the next day.
What time of day should I take ISOThrive?
If you suffer from acid reflux symptoms, we recommend sipping ISOThrive directly from the sachet as the last thing you swallow before lying down for bed.
If you don't have acid reflux symptoms then you can take ISOThrive at any time of day. Many people choose to take their ISOThrive first thing in the morning (so they don’t forget) but you can take it once a day, whenever is most convenient for you. Just remember to sip the entire sachet!

Should I take ISOThrive with or without food?
You can take ISOThrive with or without food. Just remember to take it full strength.
Can I take ISOThrive directly from the sachet?
ISOThrive can be enjoyed directly from the sachet as a slightly sweet daily treat. You can also squeeze it onto a spoon and take it that way.
Do I need to get every drop out of the sachet?
No. Each sachet is filled with enough ISOThrive so you don’t have to worry about getting every last drop.
How does such a small amount of ISOThrive feed the billion or so bacteria?
ISOThrive only feeds a tiny subset of the billions of bacteria that reside in the gut — the bacteria responsible for improved health. Feeding that tiny subset is critical for achieving optimum health. Because ISOThrive is not broken down by the body or metabolized by the other bacteria in the gut, all of the dose is available for the beneficial bacteria that really count.
Can ISOThrive be mixed with probiotics?
Probiotics are healthful bacteria that consume prebiotic soluble fiber for energy. They need dietary soluble fiber from certain plants and from fermented vegetables. However, if your diet doesn’t have an adequate amount of both kinds of prebiotic soluble fiber (and most of ours don’t) they then use the mucous lining of the gut as food for survival. Over time the mucous lining degrades and the gut becomes “leaky,” leading to an assortment of health issues. So if you’re taking probiotics (or eating probiotic containing foods like yogurt), it’s imperative to also take in adequate prebiotic soluble fiber to keep the probiotic bacteria from dining on you.
Can ISOThrive be used with other medications or supplements?
Yes, ISOThrive can be used safely with other dietary supplements and medications. If you have questions about your specific medications, you should speak to your healthcare professional.
Are there any known side effects?
Depending on your own personal microbiome, it is possible that as your system adjusts you might experience some digestive rumbling, gas or loose stool for the first few days on the product. If this does occur, it should subside within a few days. After that, most people experience better digestion than ever before. If for any reason discomfort persists for more than a few days, please discontinue use of the product.
Where is ISOThrive made?
ISOThrive is made in Belgium and packaged in the US. ISOThrive is manufactured under FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). ISOThrive is made with a controlled specific and reproducible bacterial fermentation (similar to how sauerkraut and kim chi are traditionally made). The final product is sent out for microbial and metals testing and is released for sale only after it passes all tests results. Unlike most dietary supplements, we also use scientifically advanced analytical methods to determine the detailed chemical composition of the product. This ensures that each batch is consistently made, maintains the highest quality standards and is actually what is listed on the label.
Does ISOThrive contain allergens?
ISOThrive is gluten free, wheat free, soy free, dairy free and does not contain genetically modified ingredients. Please note the packaging facility may also handle food allergens such as eggs, fish, gluten, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy & tree nuts. ISOThrive is packaged under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The equipment is thoroughly cleaned between each use.
What are the overall health benefits of prebiotics?
Numerous studies show that prebiotics support better digestion and regularity, boost immune system function, support healthy weight management, help regulate healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and improve mineral absorption for bone health. Many of our customers also experience relief from acid indigestion, better sleep, more energy, reduced constipation and improved mood. Everyone’s Microbiome is different so we won’t promise that you will see every ISOThrive benefit, but even if you don’t notice something specific, know that ISOThrive is still improving your overall health and well-being.
Do I need ISOThrive if I eat a natural diet that includes lots of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and legume?
Since the dawn of agriculture, we and our microbiome have evolved around two sources of prebiotic soluble fiber: 1) the kind found in certain plants, with the highest amounts found in tubers, and 2) the kind found in traditionally fermented vegetables and sourdough bread made using heirloom wheat. Once our ancestors settled around agriculture (i.e. no longer nomadic) the consumption of tubers declined and fermented foods became a much larger part of the diet. Fermentation was, at that time, one of the few ways to preserve food. Historically all successful cultures had one or more fermented foods as a foundation in the diet. That started changing when Louis Pasteur taught the world how to kill bacteria through pasteurization, and it accelerated with the advent of refrigeration. Today few people eat more than a rare serving of fermented vegetables and today’s sourdough bread uses different wheat than in the past, and so has little prebiotic soluble fiber. In short, one of the staples our microbiome evolved to expect – fermented prebiotic soluble fiber – has gone missing from the diet. Thus returning it to the diet is of critical importance. There are two options for doing that: 1) eat several servings a day of traditionally fermented vegetables or 2) take a prebiotic supplement like ISOThrive made through natural fermentation. Both are potentially doable but the latter is easier (especially if you don’t like the sour taste of fermented foods.)
What makes ISOThrive unique from other types of microFood?
MicroFood (also known as PREbiotic soluble fiber) are not interchangeable. ISOThrive is made up exclusively of the MIMO variety of microFood. ISOThrive (MIMO) is a required dietary component, even if you are getting other types of prebiotics.
Different bacteria utilize different types of microFood. A normal healthy western diet is missing fermented microFood (MIMO). Without it, an important subset of your gut bacteria is not getting appropriate fuel. When they don’t get their preferred food, they can become “bad actors,” eating away at the mucus lining of the gut. This can result in leaky gut, systemic inflammation and a host of chronic illnesses. ISOThrive is the only provider of MIMO. You cannot get this from plants or other supplements. ISOThrive (MIMO) is also the first microFood reported to improve acid indigestion. Other prebiotics have been found to exacerbate acid indigestion. And, unlike with other prebiotics, ISOThrive requires just a 1g dose (1/4 tsp/day) and does not cause gas and bloating. In fact, relief from gas and bloating is frequently reported by ISOThrive customers.

Is ISOThrive safe?
YES! ISOThrive is a naturally fermented prebiotic that has been found in the food supply for thousands of years. There are hundreds of scientific studies documenting the safety (and health benefits) of prebiotics. ISOThrive has been documented by a panel of scientific experts as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) under FDA guidelines.
